EnviroCoatings is a Proud Sponsor of the CASA DEL SOL Home entry of Team Orange County for Solar Decathlon 2015.  

Ceramic InsulCoat Wall is being applied on the exterior walls of CASA DEL SOL.

What is the Solar Decathlon?

The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon Decathlon challenges teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered homes that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive.  The winner of the competition is the team that blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.

The Solar Decathlon 2015 Competition takes place at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California from October 8-18, 2015.

About the TEAM

Team Orange County, comprised of 100 students from four schools, is Southern California's only team and the most diverse in the Solar Decathlon.  They encompass a Public Research Institution (UC IRvine); a Private University (Chapman); and two Community Colleges (Irvine Valley College and Saddleback).

Inspired by California's State Flower, the Golden Poppy, their Home - CASA DEL SOL - embraces four design principles: it draws inspiration from the diurnal golden poppy; it uses innovative technology to maximize energy efficiency; it is targeted to a Southern California market; and it built on a drought-resistant infrastructure.

SECOND PLACE IN THE ENGINEERING CONTEST! Congratulations to all of the engineering and construction work group students who worked together to make these innovative ideas a reality. Solar Decathlon 2015 - Team Orange County - CASA DEL SOL

The 2015 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon opens this week.  Two weeks of competition that is open to the Public from 11AM - 7PM from Thursday, October 8 through Sunday, October 11 and then again Thursday, October 15 through Sunday, October 18.
